Al Basile is a writer who performs. He adapts classic styles to the modern setting and shows their undiminished power to move and teach us. His work appears in public in many forms.


• Songwriting - Al's blues-and-roots songs can be found on his own solo CDs here and on others by Duke Robillard and Ruth Brown. He's had songs on TV (Homicide: Life on the Streets) and films (Blood and Wine).

He also performs jazz and blues with Swing n' Strings and other groups live in New England here.


• Singing - Al sings his own songs on his solo CDs here, and jazz and blues in live performance here.


• Poetry - Al works in traditional forms; he was most recently published in "Further Fenway Fiction" (Rounder Books 2007) and the "Silver Boomers Anthology" (Silver Boomer Books, 2008). Read a poem here.
